Tribute shows a lot of times need to be taken with "a grain of salt" in the sense that you can't expect the performers to truly match the quality and other elements from the original. In certain performances, the lead person dressed up like Freddie Mercury, one of the Beatles, or, in this case, Michael Jackson, is more of a comic than a musician. However, Invincible: A Tribute to Michael Jackson is trying to mimic the dynamic performances from the King of Pop in his heday through an ambitious show. People who've seen the show come out trying to moonwalk and sing "Thriller."
This performance is coming to the Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on Saturday, August 30th. If you're a fan of Michael Jackson, this is THE tribute show that you can't afford to miss. After the performance, you talk it over with friends to see if it's close to the original, but the effort is certainly there, and that's why it's worth a look. Featuring performers like Jeffrey Perez Jr., Pete Carter, and beatboxer Anointed S, the show delivers hits like “Billie Jean,” “Thriller,” and “Smooth Criminal,” alongside unreleased Jackson 5 songs and routines from MJ’s unperformed HBO special One Night Only. The 2025 edition introduces new numbers, and more impressive visuals and an MJ-inspired stagecraft, making it a must-see for fans. Reviews from a 2024 Hard Rock Cafe show in Gary, Indiana, praise Perez’s MJ-like vocals and Carter’s dynamic dance, capturing Jackson’s spirit.
